Certificates

The BSI Private Language School is authorized by the Magistrate of Berlin to conduct examinations in the subject “German as a Foreign Language” and to issue the corresponding Certificates. On its premises the BSI conducts monthly examinations for the following levels:

B2 (intermediate level 1)

  • Performed by us.
  • Candidates must show that they have solid basic skills in German that will enable them to cope linguistically with all main everyday situations. They should have mastered the main grammatical structures of the language and be able to describe simple topics orally and in writing.
  • Level: Approximately 500 lessons (@ 45mins) of intensive study.
  • The candidate should be able to understand and take part in general day to day conversations, and cope with simple written texts.
  • The exam consists of: Written section lasting 150 mins: reading comprehension, written expression, listening comprehension, structures and vocabulary – plus a 15mins oral examination.

C1 (intermediate level 2)

  • Performed by us.
  • Candidates must show that they have solid skills in German that will enable them to cope linguistically with all main everyday situations. They should have mastered the main grammatical structures of the language and be able to describe complicated topics orally and in writing.
  • Level: Approximately 750 lessons (@ 45mins) of intensive study.
  • The candidate should be able to understand and take part in general day to day conversations, and cope with complicated written texts.
  • The exam consists of: Written section lasting 150mins: reading comprehension, written expression, listening comprehension, structures and vocabulary – plus a 15mins oral examination

With our Certificate,  foreign students are allowed to sit for the entrance examination at universities in the German Federal Republic. The BSI also conducts examinations for the A1, A2 and B1 levels. For these examinations individual appointments can be arranged.
